Manchester City secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland secured a comfortable advantage for Pep Guardiola's side heading into the second leg.
Bayern Munich had a chance to equalize from the spot in the 83rd minute after Manuel Akanji's handball, but Joshua Kimmich's penalty was saved by Ederson. Haaland, who had missed a penalty earlier in the match, atoned for his miss by firing home the rebound to seal the win for City.
The result gives Manchester City a strong position heading into the second leg in Munich on April 25. Real Madrid, who defeated Chelsea in the other quarter-final, will be their opponents in the semi-finals.
