Hummels scores as Dortmund defeat PSG
Borussia Dortmund have defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie, thanks to a goal from Mats Hummels.
The German defender headed home from a corner in the 50th minute to give Dortmund a slender advantage heading into the second leg in Paris on March 8.
PSG were without Lionel Messi, who missed the game with a hamstring injury, and they struggled to create chances against a well-organized Dortmund side.
The visitors had the better of the chances in the first half, with Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi both going close.
But it was Dortmund who took the lead early in the second half. Hummels rose highest to meet a corner from Marco Reus and powered a header into the net.
PSG pushed for an equalizer but could not find a way past the Dortmund defense.
